HMP Cornton Vale is the only prison in Scotland that is solely for female offenders. It accepts both remanded and sentenced inmates and has a capacity of 309. The capacity also includes 24 independent living units and 7 mother and baby spaces. The prison was originally built in 1975 and is situated in Stirling.
