Prison Phone have been saving inmates at HMP Prescoed money on their calls from the prison to any UK mobile phone since 2013.

We do this by allocating a dedicated and secure local number to your mobile phone, this means when the inmate at Prescoed prison calls the new local number we have provided they will be charged at just the local landline rate (around 10p per minute) rather than the standard mobile rate (which is around 40p per minute).

This in turn helps to stretch the inmates PINS phone credit further and reduces the amount you need to send in for them to top up!

Here's some facts about Prescoed prison

Did you know?

HMP Prescoed is a category D prison in Coed-y-paen, three miles from Usk, Monmouthshire, South Wales. Opened in 1939, the prison has capacity to hold 230 prisoners.

There are ten residential units, all single storey with the exception of one unit. All accomodation is single roo with the exception of the dedicated induction unit which has 10 double occupancy rooms. The hostel, which assists longer term prisoners to prepare for release, consists of two semi-detached houses that accommodate up to eight prisoners.

In August 2006, David Davies, Monmouthshire’s Conservative MP, claimed prisoners were walking out of Prescoed with greater ease then pensioners trying to leave an old people’s home. He stated “People in Usk are asking why they don’t just give the inmates bus passes and tell them to go because they are leaving when they feel like it – there is no security at all.”
