HMP Forest Bank is a privately run category B male local prison, which accepts remand and sentenced adults and young offenders. It is run by Sodexo. The prison, which opened in 2000, is situated in Pendlebury, near Salford, and has a capacity of 1,460. It was constructed on the former site of Agecroft power station.

An unannounced inspection of HMP Forest Bank between the 15 – 19 February
2016 stated

‘HMP Forest Bank continues to manage the challenges it faces well and had
improved further’ said Peter Clarke, Chief Inspector of Prisons. “However, the
needs of some marginalised groups of prisoners merited further attention” he
added.

Here’s some facts about Forest Bank Prison

HMP Forest Bank is a category B prison in Bury, Greater Manchester. It is privately owned by Sodexo Justice Services, and holds up to 1,460 prisoners at a time. The prison opened in January 2000

The residential units are spread through wings A-H. A1 holds  young adults, while A2 is general. B1 + 2 are general, as is C1. C2 holds vulnerable prisoners. D1 is general, and D2 is a drug-free wing. E1 is the general and dispersal wing. F1 is basic and challenging behaviour wing F2 is general. G1 Recovery wing G2 is the first night and induction unit. H1 is the integrated drug treatment system and induction. H2 holds vulnerable prisoners.

In December 2005, over 2kg of cannabis, 60g of morphine, and 5.6g of cocaine were found during an inspection.
