HMP Lancaster Farms is a category C male adult resettlement prison, housing 549 inmates in total. It first opened in 1993 as a remand centre and young offender institution, before taking on juvenile offenders in 2001. In 2008, the prison changed again, becoming solely a young offender establishment, before changing in 2014 to an adult-only prison. It is situated in Lancaster. HMP Lancaster Farms is a category C prison on the outskirts of Lancaster, Lancashire. Opened in 1993, the prison has capacity to hold 549 men.
Coniston 1 is the first night centre and induction unit. Coniston 2 is the Inspire recovery unit. Derwent, Windermere, Buttermere hold the general population of the prison. Grizedale Unit is for prisoners on the enhanced regime in trusted occupations. Ullswater unit is the segregation unit.
Gregory Curtis, age 19, was incarcerated for four weeks after breaching the conditions of a suspended sentence for an unprovoked drunken attack. After his release, he started bragging on Twitter that he had “too many funny stories”. He also advised a friend to ‘just be confident and chat to people’ and admitted that prison ‘isn’t bad just boring sometimes’
