HMP Oakwood was originally called Featherstone 2 and was designed to be one of the government’s controversial ‘titan’ establishments. However, the prison was then downsized and now has a capacity of 1,605. It became operational in 2012 and is managed privately by G4S. Despite not being a ‘titan’ prison, the establishment still remains one of the largest in the UK. It is a category C adult male prison.
