HMP Berwyn opened in February 2017, It’s the largest prison in the UK. Plans for the prison were announced in 2013, when the Justice Secretary announced that the Firestone site on Wrexham Industrial Estate would be used as the location. It is the first prison in the area. It can hold around 2,000 prisoners and is a category C prison, designed to house adult males. If you want to visit HMP Berwyn, simply view the map on this page.
