HMP Kennet is a category C prison, holding sentenced male offenders. It has a capacity of 342 and is located in Parkbourn, close to Liverpool. Although it began taking inmates in 2007, it officially opened in 2008; and was created as an attempt to relieve overcrowding in nearby prisons.
